Singapore Launch Update

Believe it or not, Hellgate: London launched in Singapore the same day as it did here in the States, and Max and Erich Schaefer were on hand to greet fans, sign games, and give interviews.

IAH Games, our partners in Singapore, went all out with their Hellgate promotions. One of the more clever ones was a four-page ad in a popular local paper. The ad was made to look like a real story, and had the headline "London's Burning" accompanying one of our images of a destroyed Big Ben/Thames River. It looked so good that many of the local people starting calling around to press outlets, thinking the story was real! War of the Worlds, anyone?

The main event took place at Funan Digitalife Mall - the electronics heaven of Singapore. The mall was decked out with Hellgate paraphernalia, including the now-famous Hellgate Jeep. Fans started lining up at 11PM the night before, with the first person in line bringing his entire family! By 10AM launch day, well over 100 people were sitting in line anxiously awaiting the 3PM start time, ignoring the extreme humidity and rain.

Max, can you drive the Jeep back to SF so we can ride in it?
By the end of the event, over 2,500 Collector's Editions were sold (more than Halo 3's launch in Singapore), fans got to meet Max and Erich and have their games signed, and Hellgate got a review score of 9.5/10 from one of Singapore's "harsh" reviewers. Not too shabby!
Waiting can be fun!

Thanks to everyone at IAH, Gigamedia, and Hanbitsoft for helping out and throwing such a great event! And super special thanks to all the fans that showed up. We love you all!
